Spanish teens to visit Bristol area this summer!
Become a host family with Terra Lingua USA, a Terryville-based nonprofit exchange student organization, to host student(s) in your home from Spain. During this 4 week program beginning on June 28th, up to 15 teens ages 13-17 will join The Environmental Learning Centers of Connecticut/ Indian Rock Nature Preserve Summer Camp located on Wolcott Road (Rt. 69) in Bristol. From Monday through Friday the teens will spend full days at the camp learning things like fort building, survival skills, and just enjoying the crystal blue lake.
One of the real awareness-building parts of this initiative is the host family program. Each student will be placed with a local host family to help them to learn what a typical American family is like while practicing their English. In turn, the host family will gain the rewards of welcoming a student from another country.
Host families can be with/without children and would be required to complete an application and criminal background check. Families are asked to provide room and board, transportation to/from camp, and make the teen a member of your family. The teens will come with full medical insurance and spending money. They will have an intermediate level of English and a desire to learn! A stipend in the amount of $800 will be paid to the family help cover the costs of hosting. A Terra Lingua USA Coordinator is always available to assist you with any questions or concerns along the way.
