In honor of our country’s 260th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the founding of the country, we will gather event and activities taking place throughout Connecticut! It’s a wonderful and unique opportunity to learn more about our state’s rich history, visit new places and enjoy as a family.
Special events are starting already!
May 23 Wethersfield 250 Jubilee, Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony Honor and remember those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom, America 250 style. After the parade, Webb Deane Stevens’ beloved Revolutionary War Encampment joins forces with the Traditional Trades Fair for a free, family-friendly day marking America’s 250th on the museum grounds.
July 4 Hartford Bonanza, a FREE annual festival independently produced by First Night Hartford, Inc., serves this year as the statewide Independence Day celebration and commemoration for the historic 250th moment. A full day of music, art, history, civics, food, recreation, and culture on two stages and throughout Bushnell Park! Read more about the statewide celebration and signature events across Connecticut!

The America 250 | CT Commission was formed to help Connecticut commemorate this milestone. In addition to honoring 1776, the Commission aims to inspire grassroots efforts that promote inclusivity and belonging among Connecticut’s residents, looking back beyond the last 250 years and ahead toward a shared future. The site has a list of nationwide events to be aware of!
