Hoops for Heart is a fun event where kids can play basketball, learn about your heart and how to keep it healthy, while raising money for the American Heart Association. Find your child’s school or register them yourself. Teach them how exercise affects their hearts, too and how to Stay Fit for Life! If basketball isn’t your game, then Jump Rope for Heart! Sponsored by the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance whose goal is to promote quality physical and health education, including students about the health benefits of being physically active, eating right and living tobacco-free.
These events engage elementary and middle school students with jumping rope or playing basketball while empowering them to improve their own health and help other kids with heart-health issues. Both programs are great ways to satisfy the national physical education standards, and meet the criteria for a comprehensive school physical activity program. Both websites ares very informative and made really fun and easy for the kids to raise donations with a cool safe online tool. Read about the kids that have been helped by the funds! And help design next year’s T-shirt.
