Lunar New Year is celebrated by millions of people around the world, and is the most important festival of the year for cultures across Asia. Here in Connecticut, we’ve got tons of ways to celebrate.

Jan 29: Lunar New Year Story and Craft at Bridgeport Library*

Did you know that Lunar New Year is celebrated all over the world & that this year is the Year of the Snake? Join us for a mini-celebration with stories and crafts & may the New Year bring you new possibilities, new horizons, and new joys! Ages 0-12

January 30: Lunar New Year Celebration New Haven Library*

Join us for a special edition of Crafternoon with the Yale-China Association. We’ll have a special story and craft. Help us welcome in the Year of the Snake!

Feb 1: Lunarfest 2024, New Haven*

Celebrate the Year of the Dragon in New Haven on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., as the New Haven Museum teams with the Yale-China Association for Lunarfest 2025. The free event offers activities and programs for all ages featuring food, art, music, literature, and dance. Full schedule: www.yalechina.org/lunarfest.

Feb 1: Free Dumplings and Good Cheer at Niu Sushi & Ramen East Haven*

Celebrate Lunar New Year with free dumplings! Join us on February 1st from 11am-12pm for a special event. Enjoy delicious dumplings and festive atmosphere. Don’t miss out on the fun!

Feb 1: Year of the Snake Lunar New Year Celebration at Five Points Art Center, Torrington

All are welcome to celebrate the Year of the Snake at Five Points Arts Center! Activities for the whole family include building your own lanterns, scroll painting with Christine Mitchell, designing red envelopes, crafting fans, and story time in the library. All activities will run for the duration of the event so you can take part in all the festivities.

Feb 1: Lunar New Year Celebration at Cos Cob Library*

FLY into the Cos Cob Library and join us to celebrate Lunar New Year and the year of the Snake! We have fun Korean Games, brought to you by, Cos Cob community member, Jin Kim.

Feb 2: Chinese Language School of CT’s 19th Annual New Year’s Celebration! 

Authentic Chinese Buffet, Dragon Dance, Professional & Student Performances, and so much more at UCONN STAMFORD!

Feb 2: Lunar New Year Ferguson Lib Stamford*

A celebration of East and Southeast Asian cultures to mark the beginning of the new year, featuring classical and traditional dances and Chinese folk songs, followed by arts & crafts for children. Snacks will be served.

Feb 8: Lunar New Year Celebration, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Beardsley Zoo

Join your Zoo friends in celebrating the Year of the Dragon in the Greenhouse with stories, crafts, information on dragons, giveaways, and a children’s parade. ​

Feb 8: Lunar New Year Celebration at Fairfield Museum and History Center*

Families and friends of all ages are invited to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Learn more about the Year of the Snake and how people celebrate, explore Creating Community, the Fairfield Museum’s newly renovated exhibition, and join us for a lion dance, storytime with the Fairfield Public Library, a martial arts demonstration, dumplings from Grumpy Dumpling Co. (while supplies last), mochi doughnut samples from Retreat Sweets (while supplies last), Chinese papercutting with AAPI Westport, Chinese calligraphy, and much more.

Feb 9: Lunar New Year at Mohegan Sun

Celebrate the Year of the Snake at The Shops at Mohegan Sun on Sunday, February 9, 2025!
Following tradition, celebrations for the Year of the Snake include the Fortune God, red envelopes and more!

Feb 22: Lunar New Year Celebration with Connecticut Museum of Culture and History at CT State Manchester*

Celebrate the Year of the Snake with Connecticut’s vibrant Asian American Pacific Islander community. Let’s unite as friends, neighbors, and supporters to welcome prosperity and good fortune in the year ahead. Enjoy food, crafts, live performances, and more at this family-friendly event. Free and open to all!
