Try these active winter boredom busters:
- Get outside and enjoy the winter weather! Powder Ridge is opening an incredible Kids Snow Park for those under 5. Kids will love testing out snowboarding and skiing, as well as some sledding and fun in the snow! Older kids will love tubing (head over at night for epic Intersteller Tubing!), skiing, or snowboarding.
- Get those skates ready! Winterfest Hartford continues through January 7. Plus, ice skating lessons for kids at Veterans Memorial Skate Rink in West Hartford.
- Beat the Winter Blues by spending time in 80 degree weather- at the pool! Connecticut has tons of indoor pools where you can splash around and get all that energy out.
- Trampoline Parks are full of fun for all ages. Fun City New Britain, Extreme Air Indoor Trampoline Park in Cheshire, or Fun In in Middletown are all great options.
- Indoor Climbing Gyms and Play Areas are a great option for Winter Wiggles! Head over to Jordan’s Furniture IT Adventure Park, Thrillz in Danbury, Visit a My Gym, or visit Romp N Roll Wethersfield.
- Climb some rocks at Rock Spot Climbing Wallingford, Rock Climb Fairfield, Stone Age Manchester, or Central Rock Gym Glastonbury.
- Enjoy indoor Go Karting: Wallingford’s On Track Karting, Monza World at Foxwoods, or Supercharged in Montville.
- Have fun indoor mini golfing at Bethel’s The Cave or Nomad’s Adventure Quest.

- Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts on the UCONN STORRS Campus puts on a spectacular performance of Step Afrika! on January 27.

- Head to Essex Library on January 6 for STEAM Saturdays: Winter Thermatropes!! Plus, Tuesday Mornings are Wiggle Worms Storytime and Wednesday Mornings are Stay and Play. January 16 brings an awesome Minute to Win It Challenge.
- January 20th brings Spread Kindness to the Simsbury Library. Brighten up the winter blues by being kind to others!
Celebrate 3 Kings Day
- The Town of Hamden will host a Three Kings Day Celebration on Thursday, January 4th from 6PM – 8PM at Keefe Community Center.
- January 6: 3 Kings Day Parade through Downtown Hartford.
- Jan 6-7: Boar’s Head and Yule Log Festival
- January 7: 3 Kings Day Celebration at the Meriden Public Library
Honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- MLK Day of Service is a national initiative to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. through making communities brighter places. Consider doing a kitchen table service project – kids can make cards for a local senior center or veterans, put together care packages, or get some ideas here!

- On January 15, the Town of Washington is hosting town-wide events in honor of MLK Day.
