Best For Young Kids: The Dinosaur Place at Nature’s Art Village
For our young kids, this is hands down our pick for a CT Theme Park. Why? Because everything in this park is actually accessible to them!
- Splash Pad for young kids? CHECK.
- Indoor tower climber? YUP.
- Maze that you have to SLIDE out of? ABSOLUTELY.
Plus, a huge playground and trails with dinosaurs (many of which can be touched and hugged) means that this is about as primary kid friendly as it gets.
Add in some great locations for a picnic lunch, clean family restrooms with baby changing areas, and a generally relaxed atmosphere, and it’s a great day.

Best Rides: Lake Compounce
For attraction lovers and thrill seekers, this is Connecticut’s clear winner.
Some of the biggest highlights:
- Phobia Phear Coaster, the first triple launch rollercoaster in the Northeast!
- Down Time, an adrenaline packed drop ride.
- Boulder Dash, which has been voted Best Wooden Rollercoaster in the entire world 5 TIMES!
There are also some attractions geared towards younger kids, which means they’ll have a good time too!
Plus, there’s a great water park to cool off at.

Best for Families with Multiple Generations: Quassy Amusement and Waterpark
Quassy is a great pick if you have a lot of different people in your group- especially if you’re working with multiple ages/generations.
- Take it easy lounging by Lake Quassapaug or enjoy a boat ride.
- Young kids will like the “Quassy Zoo” playground and ample kiddie rides
- Bigger kids will appreciate rides like “Paratrooper” and “FRANTIC!”
- Music lovers will like live shows and 3D Fireworks!
It really is a great, crowd-pleasing space for the whole family in the water!

Best Water Park: Brownstone Adventure Park
If an action packed day by the water is what you’re looking for, Brownstone Adventure Park in Portland delivers.
- Test out your wakeboarding skills on the water
- Bounce around on inflatable water obstacles
- Experience the rush of zip lining or cliff jumping
- Enjoy one of the most extreme ropes swing in New England!
