Kids can volunteer to help residents of Fairfield County with Kids Helping Kids CT. 1) Food For Friends is a service project is a food drive led by many of kid ambassadors- and hopefully you! We are working together to address the food insecurity families might be facing due to the pandemic and lack of employment. All the food items collected will be donated to Person-to-Person in Darien. P2P is a community agency that serves families of Fairfield County. This is a wonderful way to be home but still give back to those in need! “Teamwork makes the dreamwork” so if your schedule permits, we encourage you to please join us for this wonderful project! KHK will conclude this project with a drive-through drop-off parade at Person-to-Person on July 23rd. Sign Up Here
The impact of the COVID-19 virus has been devastating for families throughout the state. Before we knew it, school doors shuttered and jobs eliminated. Millions of children have lost access to nutritious meals through their school cafeterias, and unemployment rates skyrocketed; these factors lead to an unprecedented need for food. Additionally, many parents struggle to provide food during the summer months. This summer, there is the additional worry as camps are closed, and the fall is uncertain. You can help make a difference and stand against childhood hunger by joining KHK as we host two days of service around tackling food insecurity.
2) Food Packing at FITB Kids will participate in a day of service on July 24th and August 1st. This is an opportunity for parents and kids ages 12 and older to join together in service to address the issue of childhood hunger. We will be partnering with local organization Filling In The Blanks and working hands on to provide nourishing food to local kids who experience food insecurity. Sign Up Here
