May is a Beautiful Time to Visit the Zoo and Carousel Village . . . so many things are happening and all the animals are greeting the new warmth of each day in May!
Beginning May 5 at 5:00 pm are the beloved Food Truck Fridays. Every Friday evening through mid-September a host of food trucks offer delicious foods and treats. Have dinner, ride the Carousel, take a pony ride, and play in Hasbro’s Boundless Playground. What a great way to enjoy a warm evening.
f you have not visited Carousel Village in Roger Williams Park, only ¼ mile from the Zoo’s parking lot, you do not know what you are missing. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from noon – 6:00 pm are also great times to stop by Carousel Village. The first Tuesday of the month are sensory-friendly days, no loud music or lights. Every Wednesday throughout May and June we urge folks to visit Roger Williams Park Zoo then bring your Zoo paid admission ticket to Carousel Village, to enjoy one ride on the Carousel for only $1. Members must show their membership card & ID. There is ample parking, access to Hasbro’s Boundless Playground, pony rides, and delicious treats at Frenchy’s Carousel Café.
Saturday, May 13 from 10:30 – 11:15 a.m., our youngest guests are welcome to “rock-on” with the very popular Rock-A-Baby band. The show features “Rhythm, Melody, and Harmony” three very silly and entertaining puppets who shake, dance, and sing with the audience. On Saturday, May 13, from 10:30 – noon children ages 6 – 12 may join artist and educator Eric Fulford at Wild Art. Students will visit the camels and then return to a classroom to draw what they observed. Registration is required for both programs.
Saturday, May 20 at Scout Safari Night Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts may spend an evening, 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. Sometimes there is no better place to spend the night than at the Zoo – yes at the Zoo! , on t. This exclusive after hour’s event meets some badge requirements. Want to sleep at the Zoo stay for Scout Snore & Roar. Along with a flashlight tour of the North American region of the Zoo, guests set up sleeping bags in the Meller-Danforth Education Center, watch a movie with some snacks, and then wake up to a light breakfast and morning tour of the Zoo.
Roger Williams Park Zoo is open every day in May is a Beautiful Time to Visit the Zoo and Carousel Village from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. Enjoy our restaurants, or bring a picnic and enjoy lunch in the Fabric of Africa or Wilderness Plaza. We offer free and ample parking, and are handicap accessible.
