This March, we’d like to share a very special opportunity for charitable giving that’s very close to our hearts. March for Maven is an annual toy drive for children at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
The drive is in honor of Maven Elaine Borgen, who was a curious and imaginative six year old who loved adventures, dancing, swimming, the color purple, and Disney Princesses. She was kind and compassionate – the type of sweet soul who could light up a room.
In March of 2017, Maven was diagnosed with DIPG, a rare, fast-growing tumor that forms in the brain stem. She fought bravely for nine months. Every year, Maven’s family hosts a toy drive in her memory. These toys help make things just a little bit less scary for children who need medical treatment.
On a personal level, my children received a toy from CCMC when we were there for medical treatment. It made such a difference.
