WRITER’S WORKSHOP
June 26th – 30th. Grades 5 – 12.
This workshop will provide young playwrights with the tools they need to overcome writer’s block and push their own boundaries as an artist. Students may bring a piece that they are already working on or start something brand new. We will use a variety of methods to make plays that excite, illuminate, and ask questions of the audience! This workshop culminates in a reading of student work for family and friends.
THEATRE HAVEN
Session #1: July 17th – 28th. Grades 9 – 12.
Session #2: July 31st – August 11th. Grades 5 – 8.
Campers will spend the first half of the day in workshops, exploring movement, scene study, character analysis, and varying acting techniques to help hone their craft. The second half of the day will be spent rehearsing a script and crafting simple scenery, costumes, and props for a performance at the end of the session. Campers will also be visited by various Long Wharf staff members to learn about the many careers offered in the world of theatre and to gain perspective on how many individuals it takes to create a production. Theatre Haven culminates in a performance for family and friends.
Long Wharf Summer Camps are taught by Education staff members as well as local guest artists.
*All Long Wharf Theatre camps operate 9AM – 3PM, with 30-minute pick-up and drop-off windows.”
