CALLING all High School Girls to attend Girls B-STEM Workshop Free with Microsoft at Westfarms Mall on Friday, June 23. This 1-day nationwide event event is part of B-STEM’s #WeHackToo powered by Microsoft which focuses on getting young girls and women engaged in business and STEM disciplines across industries in 11 cities. We Hack Too is an 8-day (192 hours) virtual hackathon from June 23 -28. It starts with a FREE launch event inside select Microsoft stores across 11 cities. June 23 is all day Business Development & Design Incubator dynamic opportunity for young girls and women to engage, learn and grow in business and product development. High school and college level women work in teams to design products and develop business strategies. Participants receive mentoring as well pitch their products and business models to local Connecticut-based women business and STEM professionals.
The Business Development & Design Incubators are hands-on experiences designed to instruct emerging talent on taking their idea to market. NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED – we’re all about fostering youth and providing opportunities for them to engage, learn and grow! 9:30 a.m. 3 B~STEM CHATS (Speakers 15 minutes with 10 minute Q & A) Leading professionals share insights and experiences related to the product ecosystem. Areas of focus and times are:
5:00 – 7:30 p.m. Participants pitch business strategy to panel of professionals and receive scores and feedback.The team with the highest scores win prizes.
The B~STEM Project (www.bstem.org) offers a dynamic series of programs and events for young girls and women. The initiative focuses on fostering business and leadership skills as well as engaging and educating participants about STEM-related careers. We take an interdisciplinary approach that integrates STEM and core business competencies across industries. We work collaboratively with industry and academia with a combination of virtual and face to face programming. Our mission is to make young girls and women fearless — unlocking their potential while developing a pipeline of future leaders.
