Celebrate the apple harvest the old fashioned way! The Litchfield Historical Society invites the community to the First Annual Apple Harvest Festival on Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 1 to 5 p.m.
The event will be held in the newly-opened Tapping Reeve Meadow, located behind the Tapping Reeve House and Litchfield Law School. The Meadow is a historically-inspired garden designed to provide the community with personal interactions with nature. There will be all day tours of the site, crafts, and lawn games. Historical demonstrations, such as colonial woodworking, spinning and wool carding, and cider pressing will be held all day. Featuring music by MJK Music, a brother and sister duo comprised of Meghan and Jaden Spangenberg, whose music is influenced by jazz, folk, and classical genres. Enjoy an apple pie contest with pies submitted by local amateur bakers. To participate in the pie contest, please visit the website at www.litchfieldhistoricalsociety.org/appleharvest/.
