2024 Connecticut Family Boating Adventures

If this latest heat wave has you thinking about getting out on the water, then look no further- we’ve got the list for you! Whether you’re after free family fun with the kids, a kayak adventure, sailing, or a river tour, we’ve got you covered!

Free/Low Cost Family Boating:

Clinton’s Henry Carter Hull Library Pass Program:

Head to Clinton’s HCH Library and check out a pass for up to 5 rentals at Indian River Marina! Each pass is valid for a group of up to five guests to take out any available combination of single kayak, double kayak, fishing kayak, or paddle board from Indian River Marina for up to two hours. Participants will receive one-on-one water safety education at the marina before the activity.

Mystic Seaport Museum:

Reduced price admission with library passes and tons of historical vessels to explore, along with free rowboat, sailboat or pedal boat rentals! You can also purchase tickets for a guided tour aboard a larger boat.

No Child Left Inside Family Boating Days:

Offered on July 22 and August 19, these free family boating days invite everyone out for a day of boating on the pond. No prior experience necessary. Water safety and boating education will be provided before taking out a canoe, kayak or paddle board. There will also be hikes, partner tables, arts & crafts and more.

Join us aboard and experience the beautiful Connecticut River AND the Connecticut River Museum! There’s so much to see on the Connecticut River!

Project Oceanology Research Boat Tours:

This is another great nature tour for kids- Explore the sea life in Long Island Sound and learn how to use a wide range of oceanographic equipment as part of a “hands-on” flagship environmental monitoring program aboard the Enviro-Lab research vessel. Participation is expected!

Sail Works CT:

Learn to sail and embark on adventure with Sailworks! Offering sailing trips, sunset cruises, and lessons for families.
