I have a confession: I am one of THOSE PEOPLE. I am a total Holiday-a-Holic. A “sneak out decor starting November 1st while eating Halloween candy” Mom. A “secretly loves the Elf on the Shelf” Mom. A “absolutely loves picking out the perfect wrapping paper” Mom.
The Lights. The Trains. The Cute Villages. The Cookies. The Cards.
I love it all.
But above all- I love Christmas Trees.
See our tree is important to me because it tells the story of our life together. Every single ornament captures a moment in time- the trunk of our first Christmas tree (Thanks, Dzen Christmas Tree Farm!), a seashell from our first family camping trip at Hammonasset Beach, a bell from the Essex North Pole Express, a handprint Santa from my baby’s first Christmas, the felt orca I bought off the coast of Northwestern Greenland, a few miles south of the North Pole. Our ornaments are mostly handmade or one of a kind and they are among my most prized possessions.
Anyway, all this to say that Christmas trees are some of my favorite things ever.
Up until recently, I insisted on a real tree every year. We’d go to our favorite farm, hike around with hot cocoa, pet some reindeer, and bring home a gorgeous tree. It was something I insisted on. One year, I even tried to have my family make T-Shirts that said “Team Real Tree”. (They refused).
Then I had three kids under 5 and realized that there was no way that we’d be able to keep up with a real tree. It made me ridiculously sad.
Then, like magic, an email appeared in my inbox. “Would you like a Christmas Tree? Join our program!”
And I did the exact opposite thing that I told my students NOT to do in our Internet Safety courses: I clicked the link.
It was King of Christmas, and I was hooked.
Another confession: I am deeply terrible at sales. I think it’s because I used to be a teacher, which is one of the only careers where you spend half of the money you make back on your classroom. I’ve tried to hide from affiliate programs. I have no interest in representing products that I do not believe in.
But this one got me.
So I filled out the forms and they agreed to send me a tree.
It arrived in a HUGE Box. It was almost as big as I was.
I opened it up, and found a some gloves (they went up to the elbow, which at first I thought excessive but then realized was actually very helpful).
We pulled it out one piece at a time and it literally snapped together in a few minutes. I did it while the kids played around me. I can’t even send emails while the kids play around me.
Then it was time to shape the tree- honestly, my husband took this over, but it’s only because I had to feed the baby, which is a task he cannot do.
Mind. Blown. It looks every bit as beautiful as the real thing- and was so easy to manage that I was able to get it up while soloing it with a Preschooler, a Toddler, and an Infant (I can’t even usually empty the dishwasher!)
We have a 6.5 foot Cyprus Spruce- and it has white and multicolored lights, plus a remote which we all spent too much time playing with.
All told, this is THE TREE. It’s incredible quality, and likely going to be the only tree we get. I cannot wait to make tons of memories with my kids.
