CT has open access, which means access to SO MANY FUN THINGS- especially when it comes to summer readings! Libraries offer some incredible activities, nearly unlimited books, and some super cool prizes. We’ll update this list when Summer Reading Events are out.
Kidtivity Yard Goats Math Challenge: Chance to win free tickets & First Pitch

Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Program: Free Book
Grades 1-6
Kids earn a free book! All they have to do is read their designated number of books, write their favorite part in the Reading Journal, and bring the completed Journal to their local Barnes & Noble Bookstore. They can choose their favorite from the books on the journal during July or August!
Chick Fil A Summer Reading Program: Food
Various Locations, see stores for details since they all operate differently! Visit your local Chick Fil A for a reading log. Present it at the end of the month for a free Kids Meal or other prizes.
Chuck-E-Cheese Reading Program: 10 Free Rewards Points
Get 10 Free Play Points for reading each day for 2 weeks!
Books A Million: Free Baseball Cap:
Read books from their list, then head to their store (in Waterbury) to redeem for a free Baseball Cap!

Mensa Excellence in Reading Program: Free Certificate and TShirt
Under 18
Mensa (yes, that Mensa) has put together a list of books, and you have all year to complete it! Turn it in for a certificate and a tshirt.
Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge: Free Digital Program:
Per Scholastic: From May 9th through September 12th, kids can visit the summer zone in Scholastic Home Base, a completely free digital destination which offers stories, characters, games, and a community of readers. Home Base is moderated for safety 24/7.
