Children Teen Art Show to Benefit CCMC – middle and high school students all over Connecticut are invited to submit art for sale and display during the April American Fine Craft Show in Hartford.

American Arts Marketing has just announced a children’s art show to benefit the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. The children’s artwork, based on the theme “Family Portrait,” will be for sale and displayed during the American Fine Craft Show at the XL Center on April 8, 9 and 10.  Entries will be divided into two groups: eighth grade and under and grades 9 through 12. All area middle and high schools are encouraged to submit entries. One parent or guardian per child submission will be admitted for free to the American Fine Craft Show for free. Children’s art will be sold for $15 each at the show and any submissions not sold will be donated to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center to be on display at its various locations.

The top three entries in each age group for Children Teen Art Show to Benefit CCMC will receive a puzzle box from Richard Rothbard’s Boxology.com.

Entries should be delivered via UPS, FEDEX, USPS or in person to 242 Newbury Street in Hartford no later than Thursday, April 7. See submission form for delivery details, Download Submission Form (pdf)

The exhibition features all handcrafted works, including glass, furniture, ceramics, decorative and wearable art, photography, sculpture, painting, jewelry, wood, and metal from 100 jury-selected American crafts artisans, fine artists and designers from all regions of the country, including more than a dozen from Connecticut. The show promises to deliver a unique and contemporary art plus fashion experience.

First Look Benefit Day will be on April 8 between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Artists will donate 10% of their Friday sales and American Art Marketing will donate a percentage of weekend ticket  sales to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center (CCMC or Connecticut Children’s). The show, located in the exhibition area of the XL Center at One Civic Center Plaza, will also be open Saturday, April 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. General Admission sold at the door with cash only is $14 per adult, seniors (65+) $13, students $8 (with valid I.D.), children under 10 are free. A two day adult pass is $16. American Fine Craft Show is offering a new refundable admission program which works as follows: When you purchase your tickets you receive two coupons worth $7 each. If you make a $75 purchase or more the artists will redeem a $7 coupon and take that amount off your purchase. If you spend $150 or more you will be able to redeem both coupons, for a total of $14 to be deducted from your purchase.

The American Fine Craft show will have live demonstrations and music as additional highlights of the weekend. The addition of crafts created by local children this year, promises to make the show even more interesting. The Hartford Artisans Weaving Center will provide an opportunity for anyone interested to try weaving on one of their demonstration looms. They will have special weaving activities for both children and adults. Come see their new designs for spring, hand woven by their unique artisan community. There will also be live demonstrations and music as additional highlights of the weekend.

Artists and show producers Richard and Joanna Rothbard are founders of An American Craftsman Galleries located in midtown Manhattan, and are thrilled to be back in Hartford presenting an elegant showcase featuring the nation’s top contemporary craft and fine artists. The Rothbards have directed craft shows and art fairs for more than 30 years. They currently produce the Berkshires Arts Festival in July, the Washington Fine Craft Show in October, the Brooklyn Museum Fine Craft Show in late November and the Sarasota Fine Craft Show in Florida in December.
