Newtown Fundraiser: “Hope and Healing” Benefit Concerts
Performances on January 19 will start at 6:30 p.m. with Broadway actress Andrea Frierson, known for starring roles in Broadway’s The Lion King,Once on This Island and Bring in ‘Da Noise/ Bring in ‘Da Funk, singing a moving rendition of “The Human Heart” from her performance in Once on This Island. Other special guests include Edie Brickell, Bernie Williams, Kicking Daisies, Carly and Eliza, Bobby Paltauf and more.
The all-star lineup on Sunday, January 20, starts at 5:30 p.m. with April Kry singing the Grammy® Award winning song “The Reason” by Steve Gaspar. Other Sunday special guests include guitarist Johnny Winter and his band, Ed Kowalczyk from the band Live, O.A.R., Gary Portnoy, Whiskey Preacher, Chris Berardo and the Desperados, Steve Clarke Trio, Wagon Wheel Band and more. Dick Allen II, Poet Laureate for the state of Connecticut, will read the poem he wrote about the tragedy, “A Cautionary”.
100% of the proceeds from these two concerts will go towards a memorial park to honor the victims as well as ongoing psychological trauma help for the survivors and first responders. The Hope and Healing concerts are produced in association with Mark Krantz productions.
