Moth and Wasp, Soil and Ocean tells its story through the memories of a farm boy who, inspired by Chinese scientist Pu Zhelong, became a scientist himself. Written by Sigrid Schmalzer, professor of history at UMass Amherst, and illustrated by Melanie Chan, this story will immerse young readers in Chinese culture, the natural history of insects, and the use of biological controls in farming. After a story reading with Schmalzer in the Reading Library, guests will join Chan in the Art Studio for a paper-cutting art project.
