Join the University of Connecticut’s Biodiversity Research Collections in the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology and the Connecticut State Museum of Natural History for Biodiversity Bonanza: Celebrating Natural History Collections at UConn Storrs!
We will be showcasing the wonders of natural history during an afternoon full of events:
The highlight of the afternoon will be a special lecture by National Academy of Science members Drs. Pam & Doug Soltis, of Florida State University, followed by a reception in the Gant Science Complex Light Court. Visitors of all ages can learn from faculty, students, and staff while viewing specimens of some of the world’s most iconic and unusual animals and plants—including giant butterflies, miniature orchids, a passenger pigeon, the skull of a hippopotamus, carnivorous plants, the skeleton of a platypus, and many others, all from UConn’s Natural History Collections!
Before the talk and reception, tours of the Biodiversity Research Collections and UConn Botanical Conservatory will be held every 20 minutes between 2-3pm. Displays and exhibits will be available in the Biology/Physics Building lobby from 2-6:30pm.
The event is free and open to the public, but an RSVP for the reception is appreciated.
