Disney on Ice in Hartford this week through Sunday. Choose from many performances to fit your schedule!
Kidtivity scoped it out for you at the first show of “Let’s Celebrate” Disney on Ice in Hartford and we give it a “10 again.”
The show highlights special holidays to celebrate together. Over 50 of your favorite characters take the audience around the world.
12-year old Margaret said, “I especially liked learning about different cultures and ways of life, visiting different countries.”
Birthdays are the first fun theme. Pinocchio, Gepetto and Blue Fairy are the stars here. And who could forget the craziness of “Alice in Wonderland” and the Mad Hatter in a Very Merry Unbirthday Party?
Disney on Ice is a multi-media extravaganza! Big screen backdrops, large-scale props and a huge variety of costumes help to keep each story completely engaging.
The choreography is delightful and clever with many stunt to bring smiles to all ages. Songs encourage audience participation. Even tweens & teens sing along to the contemporary music score from Enchanted!
You will experience many holidays throughout the show which is done in two acts with a 15 minute intermission over a 1 hour 45 minutes. The production is well-balanced with characters from different Disney eras to touch every generation. Unexpected special effects included snow and signature fireworks.
“I felt like I was part of the story!” – Margaret
Disney on Ice provides some big surprises and thrills for the audience (but not dark or threatening for the little ones), including:
- The uncommon involvement of Mickey’s Sorcerer’s Apprentice famous mop scene from Fantasia
- Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas joining all the Villians in a Halloween Hunt!
- Cruella Deville, Jafar, Captain Hook and Maleficent in costumes and props so unique and theatrical they draw all ages in.
Valentine’s Day brings a sweeter celebration. The Fairy Godmother guides Minnie to find her true love with the stories of the Royal Ball with Princesses Jasmine & Aladdin and Belle & The Beast, among others.
We took trips to Japan to see a beautiful illuminated fan dance for Spring Cherry Blossom Festival. Then off to China to meet up with Mulan & Shang skating along a golden dragon. Next it was Carnivale in Rio and jazzy Naw Orleans with Tiana & Prince Naveen and all the friends from The Princess and The Frog. Even a Hawaiian Luau with our favorites Lilo and Stitch!
The Gang celebrates Christmas with an upbeat, awesome, fun scene with “The Toys Are Back in Town!” from Toy Story. The production concludes in a beautiful Disney magical Winter Wonderland finale.
“What a great show. Brings back the wonderful Disney memories I had as child. Right back in the movies! Fun!” – Reaction from a First Timer
