Bookstores for Kids
Monte Cristo Bookshop is an independent bookseller in the historic waterfront district of New London that offers both new and used books to customers of all ages. They host book signings and/or readings by authors for children and adult books. We love the Kid Series held every Saturday at 11:30 a.m. They usually invite local CT authors or celebrities for the Kid Series storytime. Monte Cristo Bookshop is a small, cozy bookstore that sells all of your favorite titles. In the children’s section at the back we saw some of our personal favorites like This is Not My Hat, Corduroy, and You Can’t Read This Book by Anna Westbrook. She is a local author who also led one of the Kid Series events. Although the children’s area is not large, they have a nice rug area for reading and often have the train table out for play. The Monte Cristo Bookshop shares a parking lot with Washington St. Coffee House next door. It makes for a very convenient trip; bookstores for kids followed by hot chocolate and a snack at the coffee house.Free Storytime and Craft, hosted by Southeastern CT Kids on Thursday, April 25 @ 10 p.m.
