It’s October, and that means that Pumpkin-Picking Season is here. Connecticut has so many amazing pumpkin patches, and we are putting together a guide to all of them. Make sure to check back as we are adding lots of pumpkin patches and the list will grow as we learn about more!
Many of the pumpkin patches have extra amenities, so here is our key:

Fair Weather Growers Fall Festival and Corn Maze. Open the middle of September right thru the end of October you will now see the fields filled with families on Friday, Saturday and Sunday along with Columbus Day. Pick a pumpkin, and stay for:
- GIANT Corn Pit with a SLIDE
- Tractor Rides and Caterpillar Barrel Train Rides
- GIANT Caterpillar Slide
- Pedal Go Karts

Open EVERYDAY 10-6 beginning October 1st! Jump and hide in haystacks and enjoy a huge sandbox! Try out a tractor and train playscapes! Climb aboard the Pirate ship, Monster Truck and Fire Engine! Don’t forget to jump behind the wheel of one of the pedal carts. Also, enjoy a new corn pit and jump pad! *JUMP PAD OPEN WEEKENDS ONLY*

Additionally, every Saturday & Sunday starting in late September – October 29, They offer fall fun for the whole family!

Whether you are looking for a pumpkin to carve, decorate, or eat, you will find what you are looking for at Plasko’s. There are plenty of activities for kids to enjoy on weekends: hayrides, farm animals, a 4.5 acre corn maze, apple cider donuts and fresh-pressed apple cider.
Silverman’s Farm, Easton: ??⚽️?
FALL FEST is an annual tradition at Silverman’s. Fall foliage sets the backdrop for colorful displays of “New England” squashes, gourds and Indian corn. Haybales and cornstalks provide a vivid backdrop for unusual photo opportunities- and there is a giant “Cereal Bowl” for kids to enjoy! (Free entrance to the cereal bowl!)

Pick-Your-Own Apples and Pumpkins
Belltown Orchards, Glastonbury:????
Belltown hill orchards is a working, fourth generation orchard nestled in the scenic rolling hills of south Glastonbury, Connecticut. They grow pumpkins in all sorts of sizes, shapes, and textures.
Pick your own apples is a favorite family activity (take the hay ride into the orchard!), after you are done harvesting your own fresh produce stop at our hungry harvester concession stand to enjoy a fresh hot batch of apple fritters.
Bishops Orchards, Guilford: ???
Hearty, sphere-shaped pumpkins ready to be used as a decoration during Halloween and Thanksgiving or prepared as a food item from pumpkin seeds to soups. Accompanying the apples, this is a fun time of the year to come for PYO to celebrate being outdoors with the fresh crisp air.
Blue Jay Orchards, Bethel:??
Just about the time that trees are showing their glowing fall colors, pumpkins are ripened and ready for picking. Come enjoy classic New England scenery and beautiful fall foliage at Blue Jay Orchards this October- many to choose from and some great photo ops!
*Note: No apples this year*
Johnny Appleseeds Farm, Ellington:??
Along with the hundreds of pumpkins available at the stand, they also offer u-pick pumpkins at our patch, usually located in the apple orchard. (Apples closed for the season)
U-pick pumpkins usually start in late September and go until Halloween. Don’t forget to stop by the stand for some incredible apple cider donuts!
Note: No PYO apples this year, but some may be available at the farmstand,
Karabin Farms, Southington: ??
Pumpkin patch opens mid September. Face Pumpkins and Sugar Pumpkins 69¢ per lb. Fancy Cowboy Mix 89¢ per lb. Pumpkin patch open daily 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Pumpkin Patch Train and Trolley Rides
Pumpkin Patch Trolley at the Connecticut Trolley Museum, East Windsor ????
Pumpkin Patch Trolley is a family fun filled adventure where you ride on a trolley car out to the pumpkin patch field and each child can pick out a FREE sugar-sized Pumpkin. Additionally, when you return back to the museum campus you can decorate the pumpkins, play in the corn box, enjoy the outside harvest play area, and the museum exhibits and displays. Admission also includes the Fire Truck Museum which is located on the Trolley Museum campus.
After hours, Spooky Thrills for adults come in the form of “Rails to the Darkside!”
Pumpkin Patch at Shoreline Trolley Museum, East Haven: ????
Spooktacular fall fun, pumpkin picking, and trolley rides!
At the Pumpkin Patch, you’ll have a blast exploring the grounds and finding the perfect sugar pumpkin to take home. Plus, there is apple cider, the trolley barns will be open for self-guided tours, and there’s a scavenger hunt for the kids, too!
Admission is $12 for adults and children over 3 years of age.
Pumpkin Patch Express at Railroad Museum of New England, Thompson: ??
Experience the views and colors of autumn throughout the Litchfield Hills on our Pumpkin Patch Trains! During the Pumpkin Patch trains, visitors will also make a stop at the Naugatuck Railroad’s very own pumpkin patch. Here, kids are able to select their very own pumpkin to bring home. The ride runs about 1 hour and 20 minutes in length and is $22 for adults $18 for children.
Train to Pumpkin Patch at Essex Steam Train:??
Hop on board our historic steam train at Essex Station for a scenic morning ride through the lower CT River Valley that stops at our beautiful meadow pumpkin patch!
With pumpkin in hand you will re-board the train back to Essex Station where the whole family can enjoy some local apple cider and donuts! Tickets $39 each.

Super unique place to see decorated pumpkin scarecrows: There are over 30 Pumpkinheads and their pals in the Village. Scenes include a firehouse, saloon, church, bank, post office and more.
Plus, take a ride through Pumpkintown Forest and see all your pumpkin friends get up to all kinds of silliness. It’s super cute and always a hit with our kids!
