New Sensory Play Center Opens $5 Weekend in Shelton.  Sensory Play Center, a new nonprofit dedicated to creating an inclusive, accessible play space for children of all abilities, will celebrate its official Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and invites the public to attend!
Founded by Martha Parkins and Michele Lovallo, Sensory Play Center is the culmination of more than a year of planning, fundraising, and community support. The center was created to give children of all abilities a welcoming space to learn, grow, and thrive through play, with sensory-friendly equipment and activities designed to meet a wide range of developmental and accessibility needs.
“I have searched for an organization dedicated to building a community hub where all children—regardless of ability—can learn, grow, and thrive. Martha and I decided to build our own,” said Michele Lovallo, co-founder of Sensory Play Center. “Our center fosters inclusion, understanding, and connection, creating a space where differences are celebrated, families feel supported, and every child is given the opportunity to feel included.”
Following the ribbon cutting, guests are invited to tour the facility, enjoy light refreshments, and learn more about the organization’s mission and the impact it hopes to make in the community.
The Grand Opening celebration will continue throughout the weekend with a full schedule of family-friendly activities, including:
  • $5 Open Play (advance registration required)
  • Character meet and greets
  • Face painting
  • Sensory activities and crafts
  • Giveaways
  • 30 Days of Play Community Raffle, benefiting the Community Access Fund
The Community Access Fund, supported by the raffle proceeds, will help ensure that families of all financial backgrounds are able to access the center’s programs and services.
Members of the community, families, and media are invited to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening weekend events. Advance registration is required for Open Play sessions.
