Free Outdoor Concert Series Celtic Trio at the Connecticut Historical Society presented by the Connecticut Cultural Heritage Arts Program (CCHAP), a statewide initiative that documents diverse cultural traditions and shares the artistic creations and community cultural practices of folk artists living throughout Connecticut.
The August 17 (rain date August 18) concert features Daymark, a dynamic trio playing Celtic fiddle, flute, pipes, and guitar. Led by Connecticut fiddler Dan Foster, Daymark honors traditional Irish and Scottish instruments and tunes that have journeyed from the original homelands to Northern England, Canada, and the US, merging their influences into folk music that is very much up to date. Foster is teaching Irish fiddle techniques to an apprentice through the Southern New England Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program.
All concerts are free. Grounds open at 5:00 pm and concerts will play from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
Please bring your own camp chairs and picnics.
The Outdoor Concert Series is supported by the Evelyn W. Preston Memorial Trust Fund, Bank of America N.A., Trustee, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Connecticut Office of the Arts/DECD, and the Connecticut Historical Society.
