Happy Hump Day! The weekend will be here before we know it, and there are fun events for everyone all across the state. Check out some of these winter boredom busters: 

 

Saturday, February 25

 

Statewide: CT Maple Sugaring: Maple syrup season is here at last! Enjoy pancakes, sample local syrup, and taste maple treats at our wonderful Connecticut sugar houses. 

 

Stonington: Magic at the Mill: Visit the Velvet Mill in Stonington to shop with local vendors, experience live music and FREE kids entertainment: Magic Shows, interactive hoop dancing & more!

 

New Britain: Free Saturday Morning at the Museum: Enjoy FREE general admission to the New Britain Museum of American Art every single Saturday morning from 10 a.m.-12 p.m.! Bring the family or enjoy a solo peaceful stroll through our exquisite permanent collection galleries and exciting special exhibitions. 

 

Bolton: Free Bolton Land Trust Winterfest at the Farm: Celebrate winter with fun activities for the whole family including snow sculpting, snow painting, crafting, hiking, snowshoeing (BYO), cross country skiing (BYO), sledding (BYO), games, a bonfire and refreshments. If no snow, plenty of hiking! Bad weather date: February 26.

 

East Hampton: Switch Game Tournament for Teens: Put your gaming skills to the test in-person at the Library! Join us for a Nintendo Switch game tournament! All skill levels welcome! For the month of February, we will be playing Mario Party: Superstars! 

 

Middletown: Parents of Preschoolers Black History Month Storytime :Families are invited to this special Storytime for Black History Month, presented by Parents of Preschoolers. We will also share some information about the Ages & Stages Questionnaires® (ASQ). 

 

Mansfield: Family Fun Day at the Mansfield Community Center: Join us this winter for some fun as a family during Family Fun Events at the Mansfield Community Center! Jump and slide on the floating Wibit inflatable obstacle in the main pool, build a fort, tumble and play with the tot toys in the gym, or get a little adventurous and giant inflatable gym slide. For more fun visit the track for Family track time, or play together in the Teen Center; available to families for ping pong, billiards, and more!


New Canaan: Grace Farms Open Art Studio for Families: Drop in and enjoy a facilitated series designed by artists, curators, and educators that invites families to think, play, create, and spend time together experimenting with sensory-rich materials and different modes of art making.

 

February 26: 

 

Norwalk: Apple Art Lab for Kids- Make your own Emoji: Kids will learn fun ways to create their own emoji. We’ll show them how to draw colorful faces and objects. They’ll get hands-on using the Procreate app on iPad with Apple Pencil to draw an emoji to take home. Devices will be provided. Not near the Norwalk store? There are workshops available all over the state- check your local store for listings. 

 

Branford: Therapy Integrated into Baking Activities: Targeting OT & ST Skills at Home: FREE talk to learn how to target skills at home through baking activities. There will be learning, refreshments, and a children’s activity!

 

Middletown: Forest Bathing at the Wadsworth Mansion: Join us for nature play and games with your child, or let us occupy your child while you attend Forest Bathing 101, which takes place nearby. We will walk to a nearby spot and play games, make tea from edible plants, build forts, explore, learn about invasive species and see what else nature presents to us! (Children 4+ may attend while parents attend Forest Bathing 101 – we will remain within reach of the adult class in case a child’s parent is needed.)

 

South Windsor: Open Jump at Jumpin Joeys: Jumpin’ Joeys, is a FUN place for Families!  We have large inflatable bounce stations, rock climbing wall, bumper cars and Arcade Games!

 

Bridgeport: See the Bridgeport Islanders vs. Lehigh Valley Phantoms in hockey fun for the whole family!
