Spring Cleaning

Seems that we’re all ready to look ahead to warmer weather — free up some space, change up the décor, head outdoors…  That means “spring cleaning” – purging of unused items.

Whether you host a tag sale like we did for Relay for Life or just remove the items – DON’T THROW OUT!  Someone else can use it!

Many organizations benefit from your gently worn household goods, clothes, and even unwanted treasures.

Some suggestions of places to donate:

Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters  accepts donations of clothing, toys, bedding, furniture in good condition and small appliances in working order and will schedule pickups. Call the Hartsprings Foundation at 1-888-413-2227, the pickup service, or they can bring donations to any Savers store, where we receive a percentage of sales.  Connecticut Savers stores are located in Newington, Bristol, Manchester, Meriden, Waterbury and Orange.

Allied’s Attic Thrift Store, Enfield

Habitat for Humanity-Hartford and Southeastern CT

Goodwill

Salvation Army

Research others on 211ct.org:  click the “Search for Services” link, enter a ZIP code, click on “Ways to Donate” and then choose from a variety of options. Click on “Household Goods” and you’ll get a list of agencies in your area that accept donations.
