One of our favorite times of year because it’s harvest! Fruit Picking in CT is an enjoyable, healthy and tasty activity for friends and families to do together. It’s the season for Connecticut Peaches, Apples, Pears and Plums!

Buy CT Grown not only offers great information and its highlight campaign “Pledge to Go 10% Local” but it has a voucher card program called “Our Pick Your Sweet Crop Card” with participating farms – hurry, it ends in September!  (last of the 5 seasonal cards including Oh Sweet Syrup, Oh Christmas Tree, Dig It,  Berry Berry Bo Berry, so tell them you want it back for next year!)  Read more and print your voucher!

Pick-your-own isn’t the only way to go for Fruit Picking in CT — but definitely buy local for the freshest stuff, to patronize other entrepreneurs and our state’s economy!  Check out this functional page of Connecticut Farms featured on Buy Locally CT which also lists Farmer’s Markets and local products — cute finds of all sorts.

West of Hartford is a new find for us:  Deeply Rooted Farms in Harwinton.

A reliable farm with a huge variety of fruit and vegetables is Easy Pickin’s Orchard in Enfield.

We found this county map online plus state’s crop availability calendar for more specific dates of upcoming crops.  Another resource is the CT Department of Agriculture’s list of CT Pick-Your-Own Farms.
