Father's Day Open Cockpit and Helicopter Day

At Father’s Day Open Cockpit and Helicopter Day visitors will be permitted to climb into the cockpits of up to 8 vintage aircraft, a full-motion flight simulator and two static flight simulators.

We will feature many helicopters from our collection with over 20 helicopters and equipment on display. Including some that have been in storage for several years and are not normally open to the public. These will comprise helicopters from the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, as well as, from the civilian world. Several of the helicopters will be open to the public for tours and there will be experts available to explain the aircraft and their operation. Included on display will be the 22,000 pound Sikorsky CH-54 “Tarhe,” – sometimes called the “Skycrane,” the Bell UH-1B “Iriquois,” – also referred to as the “Huey,”, the Bell AH-1S “Cobra,” the Gyrodyne QH-50C “DASH” Navy drone, an award winning man-powered helicopter, and many others.
The New England Air Museum is owned and operated by the Connecticut Aeronautical Historical Association, a private, non-profit educational institution organized in 1959.

Located Windsor Locks, CT, the Museum is the largest aviation museum in New England. This educational organization is dedicated to preserving and presenting historically significant aircraft and related artifacts, engaging visitors through high-quality exhibits helping them to understand aviation technology and history and inspiring students through innovative and hands-on educational programs.
