Apple Picking in Connecticut Now!  One of our favorite times of year because we get to enjoy all things fall! Despite COVID-19 closings and restrictions farms are open and welcome your visit.  We researched for you but there’s bound to be more information so when you travel around please give us your updates on Facebook and together we can share how to feed ourselves better, keep active with our kids, and support local farmers and businesses.  Remember to confirm ahead by calling or checking Facebook pages for hours and availability — and be safe.

A solid resource is the CT Department of Agriculture’s list of CT Pick-Your-Own Farms – apples are considered a large fruit so look for “LF” next to each farm.  Have you been to Karabin Farms or Rogers Orchards, to name two? March Farm is Bethlehem opens September 11 and hosts many fun family activities. Another reliable farm with a huge variety of fruit and vegetables is Easy Pickin’s Orchard in Enfield – peaches are still available (yum).

Organic farms can now be found in CT!  The state’s list can be found at http://www.ct.gov/doag/cwp/view.asp?a=3260&q=431072.  If you find a “pick-your-own” organic farm please let us know!

Pick-your-own isn’t the only way to go Apple Picking — but definitely buy local for the freshest stuff, to patronize other entrepreneurs and our state’s economy!  Check out this functional page of Connecticut Farms featured on Buy Locally CT which also lists Farmer’s Markets and local products — cute finds of all sorts.
