Father’s Day falls on June 18 and there are so many ways to celebrate with Dad! 

Want to make Dad a gift? Head to Home Depot on June 3 for a  Free Kids Workshop to make a DIY putting green for Dad. Or, visit Lowe’s on June 10 for Lowe’s Free Kids Workshop and make Dad a Lawn Mower photo frame. Also, many local libraries will be offering crafts and other opportunities for family fun. Check your local library, and visit our Youtube/TikTok pages for tours of libraries around the state.

Berry Picking season means that there are plenty of opportunities to pick delicious treats for Dad (stay tuned for our CT Berry picking roundup!)

Plus: June 18 is free fishing day across Connecticut!

June 17-18: Olde Mystic Village Art Show: Head to the Village and treat dad to some fun art. 

June 17: Ocean Beach Park Live Music: Listen to the sounds of Steve Elci And Friends while playing at the beach, waterpark, and more!  

June 17: Strawberry Festival at Lyman OrchardsThere’s no sweeter way to celebrate the start of Summer ‘23 than by joining in on all the fun at the Lyman Orchards Strawberry Festival! It’s all happening at the Apple Barrel Farm Market and grounds on Saturday, June 17, 10am-4pm! We’ll have plenty of pick your own strawberries, live music from the KC Sisters on the patio, Free Food Tastings at the Apple Barrel Farm Market, Horse-Drawn Hayrides, Face Painting by Lara & Circle K Petting Farm.

June 18: Father’s Day Music at Stonington Vineyards: Join us for our annual Father’s Day Event on Sunday, June 18th. Live music, good food & wine – the perfect way to celebrate dad! Enjoy live music with Jess Lewis from 1-4p.m., and Short Rib Cafe and Macarons & More food trucks will be on-site as well!

June 18: Star Wars Themed Father’s Day BBQ at the Apple Barrel: May The Force Be With You this Father’s Day at the Apple Barrel Farm Market! Celebrate dad and treat him to a delicious Father’s Day BBQ with all things Star Wars! Save room for Lyman Orchards Creamery ice cream sundaes and fresh baked treats for dessert!

All Summer Long: Yard Goats Game: Take Dad out to the Ball Game and experience family fun with the Hartford Yard Goats! 

June 15: Sounds of Summer Riverfront Recapture Concert: Enjoy live music with a beautiful view at Sounds of Summer, a family-friendly concert series presented by Mayor Michael Walsh and the Town of East Hartford. Pack a picnic dinner and bring the whole family.

June 16-18: Suffield Summer Fair: The Suffield Summer Fair will have carnival rides for all ages, games of skill, food, local craft exhibitors and more! Plus- Friday Night Fireworks! 

June 17: Father’s Day Market at Connecticut Valley Brewing Company: Connecticut Valley Brewing is excited to host their annual Mother’s Day Market on May 13th and 14th, 2023 from 10am to 2pm. The event promises to be a delightful experience for all those attending, with a wide range of vendors showcasing their unique products.

June 17: Juneteeth at NBMAA: Join us on this day-long event, featuring artistic performances, music, in-gallery experiences, and of course art-making. Shop from local Black-owned businesses, support independent artists, and grab a bite from regional food trucks.

June 17: Father’s Day BBQ Dinner Brews & Cigars at Hops on a Hill: Enjoy the evening under the tent. Tickets include: 16 oz craft beer, complimentary cigars from Penthouse Cigar Shop & Lounge, Plated BBQ dinner from Rolling Smokehouse 5-7 pm, live music by Chicago Joe 4-7 pm, and a meet & greet with cigar Aficionados from 4-5 pm.

June 18: Town of Newington Summer Concert Series: Head to the Downtown Newington Municipal Parking lot for Lead Singer Disease & Side Effects for a free outdoor family fun event! 

June 18: Father’s Day at The Connecticut Trolley Museum: “Behind-the-Scenes” tour will give visitors the opportunity to take a close-up look at some of the current restoration projects including Connecticut Company Car #3001 (121 years old!) and Northern Ohio Traction & Light Co. #1500 (112 years old!). Additionally, tour the grounds that are normally closed off to visitors with a museum guide.

Fairfield and Litchfield County:

May 20- July 2: Robin Hood’s Medieval Faire:  Get ready for a one-of-a-kind experience at Robin Hood’s Medieval Faire, where enchantment and excitement abound! Be transported to a bygone era filled with awe-inspiring performances, scrumptious delicacies, and a vast selection of artisan goods

June 14- July 2 Shakespeare On the Sound: Free Children’s Show daily (except Mondays) featuring A kid-friendly adaptation that also serves as a refresher for those who need a plot reminder!

June 15-18: Yankee Doodle Fair Westport: Enjoy one of Westport’s oldest and best loved family events.

June 16: Father’s Day Pig Roast DinnerCelebrate life with an alfresco 4 Course Wine Dinner with Chef Debora Dividino who has created a very traditional, festive, and of course, delicious Pig Roast dinner amongst the vines, paired with Aquila’s Nest Vineyards’ wines

New Haven County:

All Summer: Meigs Point Nature Center: Head to Hamonnasset Beach and check out FREE FAMILY FUN at Meig’s point Nature Center. Check back for family fun activities.

June 10-25: New Haven Arts Festival: A Month of Arts Celebration

June 18: Family Day at Barcade: All ages are welcome from 1pm-6pm for Family Day in New Haven! We’ll have good food, arcade games, and fun for the whole family! All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

June 18: Coventry Farmer’s Market: Celebrate Father’s Day at the Coventry Farmers Market
