myRetreat™ is a six month developmental program for underserved young women, between 17 and 21 years old, that assists them to achieve their personal, educational and career goals. This Scholarship for Young Women Deadline May 27. Below are the three components of myRetreat™, including workshops, weekend retreat and grant opportunity.

1. Workshops
Beginning in June, participants attend monthly workshops, attend career shadowing sessions and a community service project.
2. Retreat
In the Fall, participants attend a weekend retreat, in Vermont,  where they attend life-skills sessions and create vision boards.
3. Grant
At the end of myRetreat™ ,
 participants are eligible to apply for a Grant which offers $1,000 in financial assistance.
 After myRetreat™
Participants can obtain a mentor
via LinkHer™ which unites female students and professionals based on ANY career.

Q: What do you look for when selecting a candidate?
A: Our Selection Committee looks for applicants that take the time to fully answer the essay questions and obtain a positive referral from their reference.
Q: How are full and partial scholarships awarded?
A: Applicants that are awarded a myRetreat™ Scholarship, with household income 200% or less of the CT Poverty Level (Click Here), receive full scholarships and participate at no cost. The cost for participants with income over 200% are shown below:
201-300% CT FPL – $100
301-400% CT FPL – $200
401-500% CT FPL – $300
501-600% CT FPL – $400
601%+ CT FPL – $500
Q: When and where are workshops held?
A:  Workshops are held, once per month, from June to November. They will occur on Saturdays, from 11am to 3pm in Hartford.
Q: What are the lodging arrangements at the weekend retreat?
A: Participants are in groups of 4-5, in a condo, with a chaperone. Transportation, lodging, meals and activities are provided.
myRetreat is a program of The Females’ Center of Excellence and Leadership, Inc.,  also known as Xcel, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the advancement of women and girls of all backgrounds through mentoring, education, networking, scholarship and community service.
